Guess who won a Sony Alpha Award? ..me. I won.
I had heard about the Sony Alpha Awards from previous years, but never had a chance to enter. I fortunately found this years competition a day before the closing date. I rushed through my files scrambling to submit a photograph in as many categories as I could, thinking I could further my chances.
I was incredibly pleased to find out that I had been shortlisted as 1 of 10 finalists in the creative category. After a week of uncertainty I was awarded the winner.
The photograph selected was titled ‘wait’. It was a composite image of two seperate photographs. The first photograph used as the background, featured the windswept sunset of Port Macquarie’s Lighthouse Beach. The second photograph was my wife jumping in the air, as if to be levitating. I wanted to create an ethereal and cinematic atmosphere within the final image and I think I have achieved just that.

The winning prize for each category was a $2000 Sony voucher, to be used on Sony products. I decided to continue my crippling addiction of camera gear by purchasing a Sony 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens.
