Dads old Antarctica Slides

I have distinct memories of my dad hosting slide nights. He would round up as many family and friends in the area as he could, and present the slides he had shot and accumulated during his years working in Antarctica. I'm sure the all the adults enjoyed this, but I remember it being incredibly boring for a child to sit through hours of these photographs.

Now as an adult and photographer, I find it much more interesting to see how different the landscape and way of living down there really is. It’s also quite incredible to see how well slide film retains its vivid colours and keeps its contrast ...especially considering how these slides were stored! (boxed under the house). I have only posted a few photographs on this blog, but trust me.. there are hundreds!
